Fits a Wide Variety of Batteries The RS4 Sport 3 Drift chassis can fit lithium-polymer (LiPo) and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) packs of various sizes, including the extra-long 7-cell NiMH packs. A thick hook-and-loop strap holds the pack securely in place, and a simple battery block screws into place to allow you to adjust the weight distribution forward or backward for extra steering or acceleration. Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive The RS4 Sport 3 Drift features full-time four-wheel drive to give you the most control and precision on the road or track. All four wheels are driven by heavy duty gear differentials at the front and rear, just like a real car. The extra traction gives you increased acceleration and cornering control for maximum confidence and fun. Sealed Shaft Drivetrain The drivetrain of all the RS4 Sport 3 Drift models features the motor mounted longitudinally in the molded chassis, next to the long driveshaft that goes down the center of the car. The entire drivetrain, including the central driveshaft and gear diffs, is completely sealed to prevent dirt, rocks and debris from damaging or binding the drivetrain. The driveshaft, diffs and axles spin on ball bearings to maximize drivetrain efficiency. Bottom-Access Driveshaft The central driveshaft that connects the front and rear differentials is easily accessed from underneath the chassis. This allows the drivetrain to be completely sealed to protect it from rocks and debris no matter where you may want to drive your car. Easy Access Differentials Getting to the differentials for quick adjustments is a matter of removing just 4 screws - this allows you to pop out the diff and change the grease, check the gears or just give it a general service. 4-Gear Metal Diffs Bevel gear differentials at each end of the car transfer power from the driveshaft to the dogbones and axles that drive each wheel. The all-metal construction allows the drivetrain to withstand powerful brushless motors for easy upgrading in the future. Rubber-sealed ball bearings support the differentials and each diff can be tuned independently by changing the diff grease. Double-Wishbone Fully Adjustable Suspension The suspension of the RS4 Sport 3 Drift uses the race-proven double-wishbone suspension design, similar to a full-scale modern race car. You'll be able to control the anti-squat and anti-dive of the front and rear arms using the standard pivot blocks, and the option parts allow you to adjust the sweep and toe angles. You'll also be able to easily change the roll center front and rear with the racing-style vertical ballstud mounting on both the inner and outer camber link mounts. Multiple shock mounting positions provide a full range of shock suspension angle adjustment to suit different road conditions. Oil-Filled Threaded Shocks The RS4 Sport 3 Drift is fitted with a set composite coilover-style oil-filled shocks, just like what you'd see on a real race car! The fully adjustable shocks are fully tunable to provide the optimum chassis performance on a wide variety of road surfaces. The ride height is quickly adjustable by using the threaded shock collars. Further tuning adjustments are also possible by changing the springs and shock oil weight. Tough Front End Suspension The RS4 Sport 3 Drift front end uses the strong C-hub style suspension seen on the latest RC touring cars, with a vertical ball stud camber mount that lets you change the front end roll center - which is a critical racing adjustment that allows the RS4 Sport 3 Drift to be a step above other sport-level RC touring cars. The suspension arm also features multiple shock mounting holes for easy shock angle adjustment. Tunable Rear Suspension The rear hub is fitted with a vertical ball stud style adjustment that allows easy adjustment of the rear roll center. Moving the ball stud up or down with the optional spacers changes the traction characteristics of the rear end as the car goes through the turns. The suspension arm also features 3 different shock mounting holes for easy shock angle adjustment. Double Bellcrank Steering The performance tested adjustable double bell crank system provides optimum steering precision at all speeds. A metal drag link plate connects the cranks for extra durability, the additional drag link mounting positions also allows for Ackermann angle adjustments. Rugged Spring-Loaded Servo Saver Fitted to the HPI SS20WR water-resistant servo is an adjustable multipiece servo saver, which protects the servo from crash damage. In the event of a crash or collision, the front wheels usually take a big portion of the blow and transmits the impact directly to the steering servo. The strong spring-loaded cam action of the servo saver is designed to absorb this force and protect the servo from the impact! Aluminum Motor Mount The cast aluminum cam-style motor mount holds the motor in place for a secure pinion/spur connection. Two screws hold the cam firmly in position on the mount, and cooling fins on the lateral support aid heat dissipation to keep the motor running as efficiently as possible. Rear End Chassis Diffuser The built in rear end chassis diffuser element smooths out the air flow underneath the chassis for maximum aero efficiency. Rubber-Sealed Ball Bearings The RS4 Sport 3 Drift is fully fitted with a set of rubber-sealed ball bearings for maximum efficiency. The rubber seals keeps the dust away from the internals while the smooth precision bearings provides for optimum power delivery from the power source out into the driveline. Rugged Front Bumper To protect the front suspension, chassis and body from impacts big and small, an extra thick foam bumper is securely fastened to the front of the RS4 Sport 3 Drift. Customize Your Look A huge variety of option bodies, wheels and tires from HPI lets you fully customize the style of your RS4 Sport 3 to suit your style. Adjustable Height Body Mounts The adjustable height body mounts let you fit any 1/10th scale touring car body from HPI Racing on to the RS4 Sport 3 chassis. All you need to do is adjust the front and rear body mounts to allow the wheels and chassis elements to fit properly underneath the body. Body pins hold the mounts in place, and the multiple mounting hole positions allow you to fine-tune the exact body fitment. Body Choices You can fit any 1/10th scale touring car body from HPI Racing onto the RS4 Sport 3, from hot hatches to supercars, pick-up trucks to supertouring racers. All you need to do is adjust the body mounts front and rear to allow the wheels to fit underneath the body properly. A simple system using body pins hold the mounts in place, and you can fine-tune the fit to get the exact ride height you want. Silicone Filled Threaded Shocks Four threaded shocks give the suspension action you need to get out and blast through the roughest of tracks or off-road terrain. Filled with silicone oil, the slick composite shock bodies are lightweight and strong, with almost no 'stiction' between the shock piston and shock body for smooth and consistent damping. You can also change the shock oil to change the handling, and the threaded shock bodies allow you to make simple and quick ride height changes - lower the ride height for on-road driving, and raise it all the way up for big-air stunts! The D-BOX 2 is your Secret Weapon for perfectly controlled driving! The D-Box 2 is a fantastic electronic aid for drivers of all skill levels, in any kind of RC car, on any kind of driving surface. Whether you take your Baja 5B out on grass, loose dirt, mud or ultra-grippy clay, you will get perfect control thanks to the magic of HPI Drift Assist technology! The super-small D-BOX 2 simply connects between the receiver and steering servo for an amazing difference in your driving performance! The D-BOX 2 has an amazing feature that improves response over other driving assistance systems when the gyro sensitivity is increased (Patented steering operation priority system) using the provided Mode switches. This new priority system allows the steering inputs from the transmitter to have priority over the gyro. While the D-BOX 2 is perfect for all types of vehicles, this gyro correction is seen the most when used in high-powered off-road cars: increasing the throttle will not spin the car out, even in slippery conditions! The D-BOX 2 will also prevent sliding in sudden braking or steering. Exclusive Sensitivity Mode Switch The HPI D-BOX 2 allows you to set 4 sensitivity modes using 2 switches. Mode 0 has the characteristics of the original D-BOX, with gyro compensation present from the steering action provided by your radio signal. You can get more steering control and less gyro compensation as you change the modes up to Modes 1, 2 and 3 - if you want earlier steering response through the transmitter and less from the gyro, simply change the mode to a higher number. The D-Box 2 will help you drive smoother, faster and with more control - and it's fitted in the Baja 5B right out of the box! Featuring the New TF-45 2.4GHz Radio System! The Baja 5B now also features the new TF-45 radio system - a 3-channel, 2.4GHz radio that has all the most-desired features experienced RC drivers crave. Among its many features are Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) digital 2.4GHz radio technology, end-point adjustments and electronic failsafe protection, plus dual-rate, trim and reversing functions. It's also lightweight and comfortable thanks to its drop-down steering wheel, changeable grip size and padded steering wheel. Element-Proof Protection The Baja 5B features protection for its electronics and it's ready to tackle wet conditions like mud, rain and snow! The 2.4GHz receiver is safely stored in an element-proof receiver box, protecting it in wet conditions to ensure glitch-free operation. A large rubber plug provides easy access to the receiver battery. To remove the radio box when you're cleaning the car, just remove a few clips - no tools necessary! Please note: the electronics are not designed for submerged operation. Be sure to rinse off any dirt or salt water with clean water immediately after driving. Check the receiver box to make sure no water is inside and let dry fully before driving again. Extra-Thick Aluminum Chassis! The Baja 5B uses a unique chassis design that has inspired imitators and pretenders that are still trying to dethrone the Baja from the top of the heap. The extra-thick Baja monocoque aluminum chassis is formed from strong 6061 aircraft aluminum for light weight and strength, then bent into shape with computer precision to make it into an extra-rigid and super-strong platform for the engine, suspension and all other components of the Baja. Huge 23cc 2-Stroke Engine The engine fitted in the Baja 5B features extra power over earlier Baja engines, and when combined with the High Flow Muffler and 8000 RPM clutch, you'll experience extra-fast top speeds and jaw-dropping acceleration for more fun! The High Flow Muffler from the Baja 5T is a much larger capacity design than the old standard muffler, and is tuned to give you more horsepower on the track. It sounds fantastic, too! When the Baja 5B is ripping past you, you will know it! 8,000 RPM Clutch Formerly an option part, the high performance 8000 RPM Clutch from the Baja SS and 5T is used to give the Baja 5B more punch, or acceleration, off the line. Lightweight clutch shoes and a strong heavy-duty spring are the integral parts of this unit, and you will definitely feel the power out of the turns! 45 Minutes of Driving Time per Tank The fuel tank holds 700cc of pre-mixed 2-stroke fuel, using normal pump gasoline and easily available 2-stroke engine oil. This amount of fuel will give you run times of 45 minutes or more and the handy flexible 'clunk' inside allows the engine to keep running even if the car is upside down after a crash. Imagine that - 45 minutes of fun before you have to stop to refuel! Welcome to large scale RC! Long-Stroke VVC/HD Racing Shocks These are the same top-quality shock dampers that are equipped on the racing-level Baja SS and bigger (and heavier) Baja 5T, and are also standard parts for the Baja 5B. These are race-quality, endurance tested, oil-filled, externally adjustable coilover shocks for fantastic performance and heavy-duty track action! Extra-thick shock shafts provide security from crashes, threaded shock bodies allow instant ride height changes, and the externally adjustable piston design is tailor-made for fast trackside tuning. Durable Off-Road Beadlock Tires To allow the Baja buggies to go just about anywhere, we fit tires that are ideally suited for nearly all off-road conditions. The unique beadlock off-road tires combine to provide the perfect amount of traction and control on dirt, gravel and grass surfaces. The Dirt Buster S Compound rear tires use a versatile square pin design that easily sheds excess mud and grass, giving you the grip you need for massive top speed runs, while the Dirt Buster rib tires provide the direction and steering necessary for pinpoint accuracy on the track. The Baja 5B uses the exact same suspension components as the Baja SS and 5T, so you know you've got a quality buggy in your hands. Durable plastic compounds and smart design combine to make the Baja 5B super rugged on any kind of terrain, so you can bash, race and play with your friends for hours before needing to think about maintenance or repair. Front and Rear Protective Skid Plates Complementing the durable suspension components and protecting the chassis from big crashes and mishaps, the Baja 5B is protected at the front and rear by thick skid plates. These allow the Baja to slide over bigger obstacles and also help prevent major damage to the chassis. The rear skid plate can be quickly removed without tools to access the engine mount screws for fast maintenance. Powerful Vented Disc Brake To bring something the size and speed of the Baja 5B buggy to a safe and controlled stop, the brakes need to be extra-strong, reliable and foolproof. This is why we use two steel plates for brake discs, both of which are drilled for lightness. To keep the discs cool under pressure, a fan-shaped spacer is used blast rotating air through the vent holes drilled in each disc. Protective CVD Boots Helping to keep the Baja 5B running at top speed for hours at a time, the driveshafts are fitted with extra-flexible rubber boots at each end. The boots keep mud, dirt and grass away from the driveshaft and axle joints, and also keep lubricating grease in place around the joints.
