This new priority system allows the steering inputs from the transmitter to have priority over the gyro. Huge 23cc 2-Stroke Engine The engine fitted in the Baja 5B features extra power over earlier Baja engines, and when combined with the High Flow Muffler and 8000 RPM clutch, you'll experience extra-fast top speeds and jaw-dropping acceleration for more fun! The High Flow Muffler from the Baja 5T is a much larger capacity design than the old standard muffler, and is tuned to give you more horsepower on the track. It sounds fantastic, too! When the Baja 5B is ripping past you, you will know it! 8,000 RPM Clutch Formerly an option part, the high performance 8000 RPM Clutch from the Baja SS and 5T is used to give the Baja 5B more punch, or acceleration, off the line. Lightweight clutch shoes and a strong heavy-duty spring are the integral parts of this unit, and you will definitely feel the power out of the turns! 45 Minutes of Driving Time per Tank The fuel tank holds 700cc of pre-mixed 2-stroke fuel, using normal pump gasoline and easily available 2-stroke engine oil. This amount of fuel will give you run times of 45 minutes or more and the handy flexible 'clunk' inside allows the engine to keep running even if the car is upside down after a crash. Long-Stroke VVC/HD Racing Shocks These are the same top-quality shock dampers that are equipped on the racing-level Baja SS and bigger (and heavier) Baja 5T, and are also standard parts for the Baja 5B. These are race-quality, endurance tested, oil-filled, externally adjustable coilover shocks for fantastic performance and heavy-duty track action! Extra-thick shock shafts provide security from crashes, threaded shock bodies allow instant ride height changes, and the externally adjustable piston design is tailor-made for fast trackside tuning. Durable Off-Road Beadlock Tires To allow the Baja buggies to go just about anywhere, we fit tires that are ideally suited for nearly all off-road conditions. The unique beadlock off-road tires combine to provide the perfect amount of traction and control on dirt, gravel and grass surfaces. The Dirt Buster S Compound rear tires use a versatile square pin design that easily sheds excess mud and grass, giving you the grip you need for massive top speed runs, while the Dirt Buster rib tires provide the direction and steering necessary for pinpoint accuracy on the track. Durable plastic compounds and smart design combine to make the Baja 5B super rugged on any kind of terrain, so you can bash, race and play with your friends for hours before needing to think about maintenance or repair. Front and Rear Protective Skid Plates Complementing the durable suspension components and protecting the chassis from big crashes and mishaps, the Baja 5B is protected at the front and rear by thick skid plates. These allow the Baja to slide over bigger obstacles and also help prevent major damage to the chassis. The rear skid plate can be quickly removed without tools to access the engine mount screws for fast maintenance. Powerful Vented Disc Brake To bring something the size and speed of the Baja 5B buggy to a safe and controlled stop, the brakes need to be extra-strong, reliable and foolproof. This is why we use two steel plates for brake discs, both of which are drilled for lightness. To keep the discs cool under pressure, a fan-shaped spacer is used blast rotating air through the vent holes drilled in each disc. Protective CVD Boots Helping to keep the Baja 5B running at top speed for hours at a time, the driveshafts are fitted with extra-flexible rubber boots at each end. The boots keep mud, dirt and grass away from the driveshaft and axle joints, and also keep lubricating grease in place around the joints. The 1/5th scale Baja 5B RWD desert racing buggy has been a huge success with RC fans, racers and journalists, and Baja owners have been extremely happy with the racing prowess, durability and qualities of the Baja 5B buggy. Now, HPI is proud to announce that the Baja SS, the full-option Baja kit that you assemble yourself, is not only loaded with tons of hop-ups that enhance the speed and power of the Baja; now HPI have improved its durability even further! The Baja SS is an epic member of HPI's range of upgraded ‘Super Sport' models that feature kit versions of HPI's popular RTR models, with additional option parts added to enhance the enjoyment of your kit. A long list of option parts is included with the SS version of the Baja 5B. As you build the kit, you add in the options that come in the box, and add your own radio gear (receiver, throttle servo, and receiver battery). Packed with Pre-Included Hop-Ups! To handle the extra horsepower of the Fuelie 26S, the drivetrain of the Baja SS is boosted with specially designed option parts that can handle the power increase. Providing a boost of extra power is the #86690 Aluminium Tuned Pipe - now complete with #87288 steel header for even more durability - is designed just for the 26cc engine and gives even more acceleration power to the Baja SS. The #15448 8000 RPM Clutch lets the engine rev up to a high RPM before engaging the drivetrain, giving you lightning-fast acceleration off the starting line and out of every corner. Sealed Shaft Drivetrain The drivetrain of all the RS4 Sport 3 models features the motor mounted longitudinally in the molded chassis, next to the long driveshaft that goes down the center of the car. The entire drivetrain, including the central driveshaft and gear diffs, is completely sealed to prevent dirt, rocks and debris from damaging or binding the drivetrain. The driveshaft, diffs and axles spin on ball bearings to maximize drivetrain efficiency. Bottom-Access Driveshaft The central driveshaft that connects the front and rear differentials is easily accessed from underneath the chassis. This allows the drivetrain to be completely sealed to protect it from rocks and debris no matter where you may want to drive your car. Easy Access Differentials Getting to the differentials for quick adjustments is a matter of removing just 4 screws - this allows you to pop out the diff and change the grease, check the gears or just give it a general service. 4-Gear Metal Diffs Bevel gear differentials at each end of the car transfer power from the driveshaft to the dogbones and axles that drive each wheel. The all-metal construction allows the drivetrain to withstand powerful brushless motors for easy upgrading in the future. Rubber-sealed ball bearings support the differentials and each diff can be tuned independently by changing the diff grease. Double-Wishbone Fully Adjustable Suspension The suspension of the RS4 Sport 3 uses the race-proven double-wishbone suspension design, similar to a full scale modern race car. You'll be able to control the anti-squat and anti-dive of the front and rear arms using the standard pivot blocks, and the option parts allow you to adjust the sweep and toe angles. You'll also be able to easily change the roll center front and rear with the racing-style vertical ballstud mounting on both the inner and outer camber link mounts. Multiple shock mounting positions provide a full range of shock suspension angle adjustment to suit different road conditions. Multiple Shock Positions Oil-Filled Threaded Shocks The RS4 Sport 3 is fitted with a set composite coilover-style oil-filled shocks, just like what you'd see on a real race car. The fully adjustable shocks are fully tunable to provide the optimum chassis performance on a wide variety of road surfaces. The ride height is quickly adjustable by using the threaded shock collars. Further tuning adjustments are also possible by changing the springs and shock oil weight. Tough Front End Suspension The RS4 Sport front end uses the strong C-hub style suspension seen on the latest RC touring cars, with a vertical ball stud camber mount that lets you change the front end roll center - which is a critical racing adjustment that allows the RS4 Sport 3 to be a step above other sport-level RC touring cars. The suspension arm also features multiple shock mounting holes for easy shock angle adjustment. Tunable Rear Suspension The rear hub is fitted with a vertical ball stud style adjustment that allows easy adjustment of the rear roll center. Moving the ball stud up or down with the optional spacers changes the traction characteristics of the rear end as the car goes through the turns. The suspension arm also features 3 different shock mounting holes for easy shock angle adjustment. Double Bellcrank Steering The performance tested adjustable double bell crank system provides optimum steering precision at all speeds. A metal drag link plate connects the cranks for extra durability, the additional drag link mounting positions also allows for Ackermann angle adjustments. Rugged Spring-Loaded Servo Saver Fitted to the HPI SF10W waterproof servo is an adjustable multipiece servo saver, which protects the servo from crash damage. In the event of a crash or collision, the front wheels usually take a big portion of the blow and transmits the impact directly to the steering servo. The strong spring-loaded cam action of the servo saver is designed to absorb this force and protect the servo internals from the impact! Aluminum Motor Mount The cast aluminum cam-style motor mount holds the motor in place for a secure pinion/spur connection.
